How to Draw Cartoon Food – Let’s get Initiated!

Step 1

When we work on this cartoon food drawing, we will represent four different types of food. As you can see in the image below, these will be a hamburger, a chicken drumstick, a taco, and a sandwich. We will start with the first three foods in this first step. The burger is at the forefront of this arrangement, so let’s start with that.

You can use some curved lines for the top and bottom of the bun, but be sure to leave a large gap on the right side of the burger. We will then add a few layers of the burger filling under the bun. You can then draw the taco with a curved line, with some wavy sauce dripping down and some filling sticking out the top. Finally, draw the bread’s outline for the sandwich and add some filling on the left.

Step 2

There was a lot to cover in this guide’s first step on drawing cartoon food! We’ll keep things more straightforward in this second step as we add the burger and sandwich. Once again, we’ll start with the burger. All you need to do for this is draw the bottom bun below it. The top bun will still have a large gap, which will be fixed soon. We’ll also add some curvy, wavy lines to the top of the sandwich to show a little more padding. Then go to step 3!

Step 3

This step will focus on adding the rest of the tables for these four foods! First, we’ll finally finish the bun for the burger. Use a curved line to extend the top of the loaf and finish it off.

Then we will add the final meal; thigh. This will have a rounded end with jagged, wavy lines where the bone sticks out. Talking of that bone, it will be drawn with curved lines with two spots at the end. Finally, for this step, add the taco base and a little more filling to the sandwich.

Step 4

This cartoon food drawing already looks very tasty! In this step and the next, we’ll focus on adding a few more minor details to tie it all together. The details we’ll be adding in this step will be pretty minor, but they’ll help add some excellent textural details to the image. For the cue, we will add three small curved lines to the side.

The sandwich bun will have similar curved lines on the sides, just like the burger. Finally, we add a few dots to the hamburger bun and the thigh meat’s surface. With these little details added, we can move on to the final details in the next step!

Step 5

We’re not drawing ordinary food in this guide on drawing cartoon food; in this step, we’ll add a fun detail! We’ll add a smiley face to each meal for an extra charming touch. These faces will be straightforward, with two small curved lines for closed eyes and a simple smiling mouth below.

On the sandwich and taco, we’ll add some extra curved lines on the eyes for some lashes. With these cute faces added, you can also go ahead and add your extra details! You can add different types of food or background to get some ideas, but how will you complete this image?

Step 6

Time to add some colors to this picture to finish it in style! In our reference image, we show you a way to color this. Although these foods are mostly muted, we tried adding smaller splashes of brighter colors to the more minor details. While these are colors you can emulate if you wish, you can also use any additional colors you prefer! You can also play around with different artistic tools and media to get the colors you have in mind.
