The Tesla Model S and Model X are the most sought-after electric cars on the market. Both of these cars are luxurious, pricey, and swift. How can you make both of these ludicrous cars even more because nothing is ever enough? The Tesla Plaid upgrade provides much greater power than the base Model S and Model X models. Your family car or SUV will be turned into an all-out acceleration beast for the price.
How Quickly Can A Regular Tesla Model X or Model S EV Go?
Both the Model X and the standard Model S are already very quick. Due to its two-motor system, Tesla’s largest car can reach 60 mph in 3.1 seconds, even in its cheapest configuration. This pushes the elegant Model S family sedan into the realm of supercars. This car’s performance doesn’t need to be updated, yet Tesla nonetheless did it.
The Model S’s 149 mph top speed restriction is on the low side so it may use some assistance. The ordinary Model S has a range of up to 405 miles. The Model X is likewise a strong performer in base trim with timing from 0 to 60 mph of 3.8 seconds. It’s hard to think of someone wanting a large family SUV to perform better, but this is the crazy EV world we live in. The dual-motor Model S’s top speed of 149 mph also applies to the Model X.
What Can You Get With The Tesla Plaid Upgrade?
The Plaid upgrade gives the buyer the most benefit in the form of a third electric motor. The dual-motor setup on the entry models is already more than adequate and provides the car with an incredible AWD grip. But the super-fast Model S Plaid and Model X Plaid trims reach a new level with the inclusion of a third electric motor.
The third electric motor in the Model S allows the Plaid to reach 60 mph in 1.99 seconds, making it the fastest-accelerating regular production vehicle on the road. The Model S Plaid has the fastest acceleration out of a stop of any car.
The high-performance Model S’s top speed also rises to 200 mph. It doesn’t lend itself to daily use but offers some bragging rights. Of course, a record is also broken in the quarter mile. It’s insane that the Model S Plaid can run a quarter mile in just nine seconds. Tesla made sure the Model X Plaid has the same improvements, enabling the large SUV to accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in under 2.5 seconds.
Due to the Model X’s immense size, this is crazier than what the Model S Plaid can achieve. According to Tesla, the Model X Plaid will finish the quarter-mile run in 9.9 seconds, which is incredibly fast for any vehicle. But that’s what distinguishes it as one of the top EV SUVs on the market.
The 1,020 horsepower that powers these two outrageous vehicles is the legendary figure that enables all of these ludicrous metrics. Previously, million-dollar hypercars were the only vehicles with 1,000 horsepower, but today a family SUV is powered by more than that. The fact that these cars aren’t tuned supercars that demand finesse to generate a ton of power is fantastic, and they have reliable electric powertrains instead.
Does The Plaid Upgrade Worth It?
There is no doubt that the Plaid update is worthwhile. The Plaid upgrade for the Model S costs $31,000 from Tesla. However, for an additional $18,000, you may upgrade the Model X to Plaid status. To begin with, the Model X costs more than the Model S.
But getting the Plaid update is a good idea if you’re considering purchasing a Model X. It is more difficult to justify spending an additional $31,000 for the Model S Plaid. Especially given how terrific of a performance car the regular Model S is already in its dual-motor trim.
