Drawing an Angel
Step 1:
The angel you’ll draw in this guide on how to draw an angel has a lot of detail, so we’ll take this guide slowly to ensure you stay focused. For this first step, we will start with the outline of the face of the angel. It will be done from an easy curved line like the one we carry in our contact photo. We’ll build on this line in the next few steps, so let’s move on!
Step 2:
You can add hair to your angel drawing using the curved face line. The outline of the hair is fairly easy, but we will add better components to it after. Feel free to refer to the reference image carefully to make the hair look like our example! Once you’re happy with its appearance, you can draw curved lines down the face to form your angel’s neck. Finally, draw a few more lines from the neckline for the shoulders, then add an extra line below the neckline for the neckline of her dress.
Step 3:
We’ll be adding a lot in this step of our guide to drawing an angel, so let’s take it easy! First, you can finish your angel’s face, and as you can see from our reference image, we’ve chosen a simple yet effective drawing for the face. Create a friendly, smiley face like ours with simple dots and lines. You should use a pencil to draw your angel’s arms before using your pen, as this can be tricky.
First, draw extended oval conditions for the sleeves of the gown. Then draw another oval inside this one before drawing the arms coming out of this one. It may seem complicated, but using the reference image is more accessible! Finally, draw the remains of the dress down from the sleeves and turn it on the floor.
Step 4:
There were a bunch of drawings in the last step, so we’ll hold this one simple! Add some hair outline lines to create excellent hair detail for your angel drawing.
Step 5:
Your angel needs wings, so let’s add some to this step of our guide to drawing an angel! The top of the wings will start with angel hair, have some jagged lines on the bottom to look like feathers, then end at the shoulders. Once you have the wings, we’ll add details in the next step.
Step 6:
You can complete the wings for this portion of our direction on drawing an angel! To add some lovely detailing, add a few curved lines in a row on the wingtips to make them even featherier. Then add a periodic line like the ones in our reference image that runs along the wings’ edge. It will help create some structure for them. Give your drawing angel a lovely halo with two ovals, one inside the further, above her head.
Step 7:

Your angel drawing looks fantastic! Let’s add some more details before the final step. Add a few long, curvy lines to the dress to create the look of flowing fabric. It’s a simple detail that makes the difference!
Step 8:

It is the most fun of all the steps in this guide on how to draw an angel! You can color your fantastic creation, a stage where you can show your creativity. Angels traditionally feature lots of yellow, gold, and white, so while you can stick with those colors, you can also use any other color you like! If I were coloring this, I would use watercolor paints for a soft shimmery look and then finish the halo and dress elements with shimmery gold paint. What colors and mediums will you use for your angel?
Bring your angel drawing to the top level.
Have fun while we make this angel drawing even better with some fun tricks! That angel drawing you created in this guide looks excellent, but it would look even better with more angels! To add more, you can follow the guide again and add more with changed details. They could be placed the same way to look coordinated in a group, or each could be unique. A wonderfully traditional background would be a dirty golden landscape. Once you have added more angels to your illustration, you can choose a background.
This idea comes to mind, but you can use many other background settings. They can even be everyday places or situations that you could act out. What are the background ideas you have? Angels are often associated with inspiration and positive thoughts, so that you can add positive quotes to your angel drawing. I could add so many lines and sentences written in exciting fonts. It could turn your artwork into a poster that will inspire everyone who sees it!
Do you have any quote ideas that would fit this image? Finally, you can use fun and creative art media to add an extra element to your angel sketch. Another characteristic commonly associated with angels is that they are bright and sparkling; You could show it with your colors.
